Welcome to the
online guide to spyware and adware. We have composed
information about both in a short read below. Please use
the back and next links to browse through the pages.

Spyware is a dangerous type of software that can be
installed onto your computer recording emails, chat
conversations, websites visited, and date entered into
documents and open windows of your computer. These
programs can record your account numbers, user names,
passwords, and everything else that is typed on your computer.
These programs transmit the recorded information to whomever
is spying on your system, giving them access to everything
about you. Adware is software that can be installed
on your computer from peer to peer file sharing programs or
message boxes asking "Do you wish to install ...., signed by
...." These programs can record website statistics such
as where you navigate, what you search for, and the rate at
which you click on certain links. Adware creates popup ads
as well, turning your computer into a virtual billboard for
advertisers, based on your Internet surfing habits. These
programs can also change your Internet homepage to a strange
website and prevent you from changing it back to your desired
homepage. Adware can even go as far as dialing your modem to
premium rate services and sticking you with the bill! Both
spyware and adware can be installed onto your computer without
your consent and can be incredibly difficult to remove.
In addition to the obvious threats of these malicious
programs, that can also cause your system even more harm due
to programming conflicts. Some components are programmed
with bugs that error depending on your computer configuration,
so when they are secretly loaded, they can crash your web
browser or other applications, rendering your computer
useless. previous page
